Week 1 :D

1. ANIMAL EXPERIMENTATION, IS IT RIGHT OR WRONG?

Recently, when I was researching wildlife protection for an English assignment, I stumbled across a debate/article on animal experimentation. I was greatly interested because I'm an animal lover :) The debate concentrated on the question, "Is it morally acceptable to experiment on non-human animals to develop products and medicines that benefit human beings?" I have always been unable to answer this question because although I feel that it is wrong to perform possibly deadly experiments on animals just because they're not as "important" as humans, I can also see the benefits animal experimentation can have on human society. So I used this topic for this week's prompt because I hope that someone can provide an answer with good supporting reasons :)

2. I thought the debate was good :) the 2 sides responded well to each others' arguments. I thought the strongest argument was that the media should show the full horrors of war because it would give soldiers-to-be the real image instead of just military rumors. It would prepare them and let them know what they're going to face in war. I thought the least compelling argument was when the leader of opposition argued that although people would know the full horrors of war, they wouldn't be able to comprehend it. -__-

  1. NO, its NOT ACCEPTABLE! D;
    POR QUE?...
    1) animal cruelty
    2) experimenting may possibly result in a decrease of biodiversity, endangers species
    3) animals may have different responses than humans to certain things
    4) results from experimentations may be misleading due to all the stress the animals go through being LOCKED UP in labs D;
    5) we're all living organisms. a life is a life
    6) they feel pain too ;_;
    7) oh goshhh, what if you were in this rabbit's place? o.o;
    im pretty sure u wouldnt like it... x.X
    "Let's take the Draize Test, for example: it's an eye irritancy test that is still widely used in labs, despite its incredibly cruel nature. The test is done on rabbits, who have their heads locked in stocks so they can't move. Their eyelids are clipped, preventing them from being able to blink, and then chemicals are poured into their eyes. These rabbit "subjects" are left to suffer through the burning and irritation for weeks on end. Yes, WEEKS. They bleed, get ulcers, and their eyes are destroyed. Some even break their own necks trying to escape the stocks."
    8) there are other alternative methods such as: technology, human tissue cultures, statistics, computer models, etc

  4. yeah I've never really liked how they would test stuff on animals first..pretty sad! but i can see how they would. What else can they test it on that's close enough to humans?
    Aw, those pictures are sad. :'(
    POOR ANIMALS!

  5. It's unfair how animals are tested on because they are living creatures just like us humans. It might be dangerous for us, and that's why animals are ones being tested instead of us, and i think that is unfair to them. They have feelings just like us, and if we wouldn't want to be test subjects, we shouldn't allow animals to be!
